Personal Data Protection Notice
This Personal Data Protection Notice supplements the CatchJobs Privacy Policy and forms part of the information we provide when we collect personal data directly from you or through your use of the Platform.
Who we are
CatchJobs Limited (a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15491317) is the controller of personal data collected through the CatchJobs websites, app and related services (together, the "Platform").
Our registered office is C/O SMB LLP, 87-91 Newman Street, London, W1T 3EY.
When this Notice applies
This Notice applies when you create or manage an account, complete forms, build a profile, upload a Video-CV or conventional CV, apply for a role, communicate with another user or with us, subscribe to updates, use paid services, attend an event, make an enquiry, or otherwise interact with the Platform.
It is intended to provide a short-form explanation of how and why we process personal data at or around the point of collection. It should be read together with our full Privacy Policy, which contains more detail about our processing activities.
The categories of personal data we may collect
Identity Data, such as your name, date of birth, gender, education, career history, job title and similar profile details.
Contact Data, such as your e-mail address, telephone number, billing address and other contact details.
Profile and User Content, such as your username, password, profile photo, Video-CV, conventional CV, interests, preferences, feedback, survey responses and information included in content you upload or submit.
Usage, Technical and Device Data, such as your IP address, browser or device details, log-in data, time zone, activity data, viewed content, clicks, searches, interaction history and message metadata.
Transaction and Financial Data where relevant for paid services, subscriptions, billing, fraud prevention or refunds.
Marketing and Communications Data, such as your opt-in status, contact preferences, unsubscribe history and records of communications with us or through the Platform.
We do not usually require special category personal data. If you voluntarily include sensitive personal data in a Video-CV, conventional CV, message, application or other submission, you should only do so where you are comfortable that it is necessary and lawful to share it.
How we collect personal data
We collect personal data directly from you when you provide it to us, indirectly through your activity on the Platform, automatically through cookies and similar technologies, and from third party log-in or authentication providers where you choose to connect those services.
We may also receive personal data from employers, recruiters, professional advisers, payment providers, fraud prevention bodies, regulators or other third parties where this is reasonably connected with operating the Platform, protecting users, complying with law or delivering the services you request.
Why we use personal data
We use personal data to set up and manage accounts, provide the Platform, facilitate recruitment-related activity, present profiles and applications, route messages, enable interviews and scheduling, process payments, manage subscriptions, personalise content and role suggestions, provide support, maintain security, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations and improve the Platform.
Where permitted by law, we may also use personal data to send updates, role alerts, newsletters, promotions and other marketing or informational communications that are relevant to you or your use of the Platform.
Our legal bases for processing
Depending on the circumstances, we process personal data because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract, because you have given consent, because processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, or because we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Where consent is the basis we rely on, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal took effect.
Who we may share personal data with
We may share personal data with employers and recruiters where you apply for a role, make your profile visible to them, otherwise direct us to do so, or where sharing is necessary to facilitate the service you have requested.
We may also share personal data with hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics providers, customer support tools, communication service providers, payment processors, professional advisers, insurers, auditors, group companies, competent authorities and law enforcement bodies where this is necessary and lawful.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes unless you have separately agreed to that specific use.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may be located outside the UK or the EEA. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we seek to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other recognised transfer mechanisms.
Retention
We keep personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the Platform, manage our relationship with you, maintain records, resolve disputes, comply with tax, accounting or legal obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
In general, you should expect us to retain core account information while your account remains open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Some records, including transaction and compliance records, may be retained for up to six years or longer where the law requires or permits this.
Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection to certain processing, objection to direct marketing, and information about automated decision making. You may also have the right to complain to your local regulator.
If you are in the UK, your usual supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner's Office.
